How would you feel if your favourite colour had a makeover?
I don’t know about you but for me, colour has always had character. The feeling and personality of a colour can really grow on a person. For most of my life I have been attached to the concept of blue. That trusty friendly safe colour. The one that shone down at me from above on a bright clear day. The one that greeted me along with the rush of dancing waves. It was always around when I needed to feel calm and protected.
About six years ago a realization hit me. It sent me on a colour obsessed information journey. When I learned that cyan, magenta and yellow are the paint primary colours, I had a good strong look at cyan. The word cyan wasn’t as familiar and friendly to me as the word blue. The colour cyan however, looked like the blue I had been in love with for many years. My perception of my favourite colour shifted. It transformed from blue to cyan. Then I started to see cyan everywhere. My favourite colour had a new name and felt different but the more I spent time with it, the more I realized it was just as wonderful as my old friend blue.
